Ejercicios para equilibristas se compone de dos obras: El observador (1967) y El habitáculo (1969), que, a su vez, junto con las piezas cortas Juegos de amanecer y El premio, integran Ejercicios en la red. A partir de estos textos, autor, director y escenógrafo han trabajado en equipo, práctica habitual en el teatro independiente profesional, de donde proceden Luis Matilla, Juan Margallo, Ops y los actores. (...) El teatro de Luis Matilla, y en concreto Ejercicios para equilibristas, se caracteriza por su capacidad de síntesis, lo absurdo, el lenguaje visual, la violencia plástica y los contenidos sugerentes y agresivos.
