Un análisis de la música de Cabezón mostrará las estrategias compositivas del música burgalés en comparación con el original polifónico de Verdelot. El análisis incluye otras versiones de referencia, como el madrigal polifónico de Parabosco y las adaptaciones para laúd de Vincenzo Galilei y Valentin Bakfark. En este conexto comparativo la obra de Cabezón adquiere nuevas dimensiones que nos permitirán valorar su aportación instrumental al expresivo texto del poeta Ludovico Martelli.
