Teatro y memoria reúne cinco obras de dramaturgos españoles contemporáneos, que suscitan una reflexión en torno a la memoria histórica reciente de nuestro país. La selección, que incluye tendencias diversas y abarca varias etapas desde la dictadura hasta la democracia, refleja de modo particular la circunstancia de aquellos grupos exiliados -mujeres, desposeídos y emigrantes- cuya experiencia fue silenciada por el franquismo y olvidada por la desmemoria que caracterizó a la Transición. Extiende además su mirada hacia la situación de nuevos colectivos marginados e invisibilizados durante el periodo democrático.<br/>La guerra civil y sus consecuencias-exilio y dictadura- constituyen el eje de partida o el núcleo que articula el conjunto. La mayoría de las obras fueron escritas en el destierro y reflejan la importante función que tuvo el teatro en los diferentes países de destino como un medio de preservar la identidad cultural y un espacio donde reconstruir la memoria desde la distancia. Todas, excepto La muerte de García Lorca permanecen inéditas, y merecen, por su calidad estética, por la hondura de su perspectiva política y por su compromiso social, la atención del lector y de la crítica. |
