Una breve introducción a la enmarañada historia permite anticipar que la acción comienza con el naufragio de un barco en la costa de Iliria donde una de las personas que logra salvarse es una joven llamada Viola quien cree que su hermano gemelo Sebastián ha muerto en el accidente. Disfrazada de muchacho y llamándose ahora Cesario logra un trabajo en el palacio del conde Orsino; éste noble está enamorado de la condesa Olivia quien no acepta sus cortejos. |
