Dance Now -- Vol. 7, núm. 1, Spring 1998, p. 48 - 55

Contiene cuatro apartados: - Swedes versus Slavs. - Character dance and Dalcroze. - The geometrical ballets. - The processional dances.

In this article, we have associated Dervishes (1920) with Skating Rink (1922) for their use of geometrical formalism, which we regard as one genre of Börlin's choreography. Man and His Desire (1921) and Within the Quota (1923) we have linked for their exploration of processional choreography. The geometrical ballets, largely through circular forms, make the most of volume, while the processional ones contrast horizontal dances with emphatically vertical decors. PALABRAS CLAVE: Jean Börlin, Man and His Desire, Within the Quota, Dervishes, Skating Rink, El Greco.
