520			_aMaría Luz Morales fue una de las mujeres pioneras de la prensa escrita: su labor comenzó en los años veinte en El Hogar y la Moda, revista que llegaría a dirigir, y continuó en La Vanguardia, donde ejercería en los años treinta la crítica cinematográfica y teatral, compaginando estas colaboraciones con las que realizó para El Sol. Su labor tuvo una gran repercusión en el mundo cultural e intelectual español de los años treinta y la llevó a ser la primera mujer directora de un periódico, cargo que desempeñó en La Vanguardia durante unos meses entre 1936 y 1937. Colaboró en distintas empresas culturales como traductora, adaptadora de clásicos, ensayista, conferenciante, e integrante de varias editoriales. Escribió poesía, novela y teatro. Preocupada siempre por las mujeres, fue creadora y directora de la Residencia de Señoritas de Barcelona. Tras la guerra civil sufrió la represión franquista por lo que hasta los años cincuenta no volvió a ejercer el periodismo. A partir de entonces retoma la crítica teatral en Diario de Barcelona donde ejerció esta labor hasta el mismo año de su muerte en 1980. Su prestigio le valió ser conocida por sus compañeros como La gran señora de la Prensa.
520			_aMARÍA LUZ MORALES, THE GREAT LADY OF THE PRESS Abstract: María Luz Morales was one of the pioneering women of the written press: her work began in the twenties in El Hogar y la Moda, a magazine she would direct, and continued in La Vanguardia, where she would work as a film and theater critic in the thirties, combining these collaborations with those she made for El Sol. Her work had a great impact on the Spanish cultural and intellectual world of the 1930s and led her to become the first woman director of a newspaper, a position she held at La Vanguardia for a few months between 1936 and 1937. She has collaborated in different cultural companies as a translator, adaptor of classics, essayist, lecturer, and member of several publishing houses. She has written poetry, novels and plays. Always concerned about women, she was the creator and director of the Residencia de Señoritas de Barcelona. After the civil war, she suffered from Franco's repression and did not return to journalism until the 1950s. From then on, she resumed her theatrical criticism in Diario de Barcelona where she worked until the very year of her death in 1980. Her prestige earned her the nickname "The Great Lady of the Press".
